❓ What is Remote View
Remote View is a web application that lets trainees registered via shared VR devices stream their training in real time, and lets trainers monitor their progress as it happens. Instead of reviewing how a trainee performed only after a session has finished, you can follow along live, across multiple devices at the same time.
Remote View is built around the idea of a class: a facilitator starts a class, adds shared devices to it, launches a scenario on those devices, and monitors the trainees as they play. Streaming sessions are recorded and can be replayed later in Warp Studio.
❗️Remote View is an add-on feature. If you'd like to try it out before purchasing, please reach out to our team for enabling it in your Warp Studio profile. Afterwards, you can access Remote View from the profile menu in the top-right header of Studio, or directly at remote.warpvr.com.
👀 How to use Remote View
- Register the devices you want to monitor as shared devices under your workspace. Have all the devices you plan to use in the session registered before you begin, so they're available to add to a class. How to register shared devices: 🛠 Register a shared device
- Sign in - Open Remote View and sign in with your six-digit code.
- Start a class to begin a session. Once the class is running, you can open it to view it as an active class.
- Within an active class, add the shared devices you want to include. You can select multiple devices at once and monitor them side by side.
- Start a scenario on the devices you've selected. Currently, you can only start scenarios that are already downloaded on a device.
- Once the scenario is running, watch what each trainee sees and follow their progress live, across all selected devices at the same time. ❗️Note that in the grid view (as shown above), we only show screenshots every 5 seconds. Only in the device view (when clicked on a device from the grid) AND when a trainee is actually playing a scenario, we show a live stream.
- Monitor the session. Once the scenario is running, you can watch what each trainee sees and follow their progress live, across all selected devices at the same time. The session is recorded so you can replay it afterwards in Warp Studio.
While you monitor, each device shows one of two statuses:
- Playing - The trainee is actively in a scenario. You see a live, full-quality view of what they are looking at.
- Ready - The device is connected and waiting. The trainee has not started a scenario yet, so the view updates as a snapshot every few seconds instead of live. This is normal, and the view switches to live automatically as soon as they start.
❗️A recording might not be recorded fully if a user takes off their headset (and the headset goes into sleep-mode) and is later being picked up again for the user to keep on playing. In some cases the recording could not be complete. Ways to mitigate this:
- Always keep on playing a scenario until the end.
- Change sleep-mode setting on your device to never or the longest setting
🧭 Before you start
Remote View has a few requirements. Check these before your first session:
- Warp App version - Remote View works with version 5.0.6 of the Warp App or higher. Make sure your devices are up to date.
- VR headsets only - Remote View is not accessible on mobile devices.
- Shared devices - The devices you want to monitor must be registered as shared devices under a workspace.
- Workspace access - Remote View must be enabled for your workspace. Check our pricing page for details, or contact your Customer Success Manager to have it enabled.
- Role access - Remote View can only be opened by the Owner, Manager and Instructor roles.
