🔌 Reconnect a disconnected shared device

Sometimes a shared device can lose its connection to Warp Studio. This article explains what that means and how to fix it.

❓ What does "disconnected" mean?

When a device is registered as a shared device, it stores a verification code on the device itself. If the Warp VR app is reset or reinstalled, this code can be lost. The device will still appear in Warp Studio, but it will no longer function as a shared device.

When this happens, Warp Studio will automatically:

  • Show a [DISCONNECTED] label next to the device name.
  • Send an email notification to the workspace owner.

🔌 Restore the connection

You can restore the connection without losing any of your device settings.

  • In the Shared devices tab under the Trainees page, click the three dots next to the disconnected device.
  • Select Restore connection.
  • A 6-digit code will be generated. Pick up the device.
  • On the device, tap Sign in by 6-digit code, enter the code, and tap Sign in.
  • Once confirmed, the connection is restored and all previous settings are carried over.

⚠️ If you enter the code on a different device, a warning will be shown. If you choose to continue, the settings from the original device will be transferred to the new device and the old device will be unregistered. This is a useful way to replace a device while keeping your configuration intact.

If the device keeps showing as disconnected after restoring, try deleting it and registering it again from scratch.
