πŸ‘Ÿ Enable hardware acceleration on web

Warp VR scenarios use 180Β°/360Β° video. To play this back smoothly, your browser needs hardware acceleration turned on β€” this lets the browser use your device's graphics chip (GPU) instead of relying on the processor alone.

If you saw a banner saying hardware acceleration is off, here's how to turn it back on. It takes less than a minute.

On a work or managed device?

If these settings are greyed out or won't save, your device may be locked down by your organization. In that case, ask your IT administrator to enable hardware acceleration (also called "GPU acceleration") for your browser.

Google Chrome
  1. Click the three-dot menu (top right) β†’ Settings.
  2. Open System in the left sidebar.
  3. Turn on Use graphics acceleration when available.
  4. Click Relaunch to restart Chrome.

Microsoft Edge
  1. Click the three-dot menu (top right) β†’ Settings.
  2. Open System and performance in the left sidebar.
  3. Turn on Use hardware acceleration when available.
  4. Click Restart to apply the change.

Mozilla Firefox
  1. Click the menu (top right) β†’ Settings.
  2. In General, scroll to Performance.
  3. Uncheck Use recommended performance settings.
  4. Check Use hardware acceleration when available.
  5. Restart Firefox.

Safari (Mac)

Safari uses hardware acceleration automatically and has no manual setting. If video still stutters, update macOS and Safari to the latest version and close other heavy apps or browser tabs.

Still seeing the banner or choppy playback?

  • Fully quit and reopen your browser after changing the setting β€” a refresh alone isn't always enough.
  • Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.
  • Close other demanding tabs or applications.
  • Try a different browser (Chrome or Edge tend to give the most reliable results).

If playback is still slow after all this, contact us via the chat bubble and we'll help you out.
